Hwangjeongsan Natural Recreation Forest
Hwangjeongsan Mountain is one of the top 100 famous mountains in Korea and is located in Daegang-myeon, Danyang-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do. It faces the famous Doraksan Mountain across the road. Hwangjeongsan (959.4m) is a rugged mountain that rises in the south of Hwangjeong-ri, Daegang-myeon, Danyang-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do. It is one of the mountains that has been neglected in the shadow of the Eight Scenic Views of Danyang, including the surrounding Sainam Rock, but recently, Hwangjeongsan Mountain Chilseongbawi Rock has been designated as one of the Second Eight Scenic Views of Danyang and is being visited by many people. The Baekdu Daegan, which briefly sunk in Jukryeong, south of Sobaeksan Mountain, rises again to the south, forming Dosolbong Peak(1,314 meters) and Myojeokbong Peak(1,148 meters). Hwangjeongsan Mountain is a peak on the ridge that branches off to the north from the 1,076-meter peak between Jusujae and Beoljae, just before the Baekdu Daegan turns west from Myojeokbong Peak and extends to Hwangjeongsan Mountain(959 m). This mountain is emerging as a leader in entertaining hiking trails. The millennia-old Daeheungsa Temple and Wontongam, built during the Silla Dynasty, support the mountain range of Hwangjeongsan Mountain. Originally, Daeheungsa Temple was a daegaram (large temple), which had 500 nahans and 1,000 monks in a 6,000-pyeong (1 pyeong: 3.3 square meters) area, but it burned down in 1876, and only the Wontongam remains today. In addition, Hwangjeongsan Mountain is rich in attractions that should be equipped as a famous mountain, and the more you look at it, the more you will find highlights such as Chilseongam Rock, one of the Second Eight Scenic Views of Danyang, Namgeunsoek Rock, Hat Rock, Finger Rock, and Silkworm Rock gathered at the foot of the mountain. The Baekdudaegan passes through Sobaeksan Mountain, sinks in Jukryeong, and then rises again to the south, forming Dosolbong Peak (1,314m) and Myojeokbong Peak(1,148m).

- Geographical and social characteristics (including analysis of nearby tourist attractions)
- The ridge that branches off to the north from the 1,076-meter peak between Jusujae and Beoljae, just before the Baekdudaegan turns west from Myojeokbong Peak and extends to Hwangjangbongsan Mountain (1,077 meters), gives rise to the 1,080-meter peak and Suribong Peak (1,019 meters) and then forms Hwangjeongsan Mountain. The ridge that created Hwangjeongsan Mountain turns to the west-northwest, sinks in Jikchi, and then gains altitude again, creating Doraksan Mountain (964m), and the ridge that stretches north toward Geumsusan Mountain finally creates Deokjeoksan Mountain(780m) and Duaksan Mountain (732m), and sinks into Chungjuho Lake.
- Natural environment characteristics
- Centering on the summit of Hwangjeongsan Mountain, 70% of the ridges on the north and northwest slopes are covered with Mongolian oak trees, while the south and southeast slopes are covered with pine trees. Most of the Mongolian oak trees have a diameter of 10-20 cm at breast height, indicating that it is a secondary forest with a vegetation history of about 20-30 years. The species structure is relatively well organized, and the decayed leaf layer is generally in good condition. There were no signs of recent artificial disturbance, and the Northern bamboo was dominant in the herbaceous layer with a high cover of more than 70% in some plots. It is also noteworthy that in some plots, the frequency and dominance of the Golden edger were high in the herbaceous layer. The pine clusters distributed in areas of the north slope and the rocky areas of the south slope of Hwangjeongsan Mountain can be considered as a high degree of naturalized vegetation that forms a physiographic climax.
