Not well known a hidden gem Deokjeolsan
Deokjeolsan Mountain (780m) is a mountain that rises between Haseonam Rock and Sainam Rock of the Eight Scenic Views of Danyang and is still an unknown mountain that has been overshadowed by the fame of the surrounding mountains and beautiful valleys. The sparsely populated and quiet area preserves its pristine natural beauty.
The hike begins at the Gasangyo Bridge in Gasan-ri, which is a village surrounded by beautiful mountains. If you follow Pitijae toward Jiktiri from the Gasan Three-way intersection, you will pass the Gasan Rest Area and see the Gasan Guesthouse on your left. After filling your water bottle at the guesthouse, you will see Gasangyo Bridge in 5 minutes in the direction of Pitijae, and after crossing the bridge, a mountain path will appear to the north. If you take the road to the north, the mountain road leads to the east, and if you follow the ridge for about 10 minutes, you will see a transmission tower. After another 20 minutes of climbing up the pretty Amreung path, you will reach a second transmission tower. Leaving the transmission tower behind, you will pass an oddly shaped pine tree, and then a straight wall over 10 meters high will be in front of you.
You can either turn left at the wall and hike or enjoy a thrilling semi-climb. After enjoying the view from Amreung, descend the cypresses to the northeast, and you'll soon be back on the ridge. After about an hour, you'll reach the summit of Deokjeolsan Mountain, where the views are spectacular. To the east, the Sobaeksan Mountains show off their majesty, and to the south, the views of Hwangjeongsan Mountain and Doraksan Mountain add to the grandeur. To the west, Chungjuho Lake lures hikers with its silver waves. To descend, descend the ridge forest tunnel leading to Duaksan Mountain to the northwest for 40 minutes to reach Dutdeulchae, then follow the valley to the west for 40 minutes through Daejam-ri to the Danyangcheon Stream Pine Rest Area.
