Seven rocks resembling Buddha's palms
On Hwangjeongsan Mountain in Daegang-myeon, seven 15-meter-high boulders rise mysteriously as if they had been carefully carved. What's more, a 7-meter-high base stone forms the foundation, making it even more impressive. When the sun shines in the middle of the day, the granite Chilseongam Rock shines so brightly that it resembles a Buddha's palm, and many people have come to pray for their wishes since ancient times.
To the average person, it looks like a mountain spirit made a wrong move with an axe and created this stunning rock, but geologically speaking, it was formed by vertical and horizontal joints.
Nearby is the National Hwangjeongsan Natural Recreation Forest, operated by the Korea Forest Service, where you can spend a nice break in the forest of Hwangjeongsan Mountain, one of Korea's 100 most famous mountains.
