The Baekdu-daegan Sobaek Mountains, spreading out as the spine of the Korean Peninsula, are home to Sobaeksan Mountain, the national spiritual mountain and the roof of Danyang, as well as more than 20 other large and small famous mountains, together in harmony with the Namhangang River. It is a favorite destination for hikers in all seasons, from spring to winter.

It is the third mountain in Chungcheongbuk-do to be designated as a national park. Sobaeksan Mountain shows the beauty of all four seasons; in spring, azaleas bloom in full bloom, wildflowers in summer, fully red autumn leaves, and winter wonderland at the top of the mountain, making a final touch to winter hikes. In addition, the Sobaeksan Royal Azalea Festival is held every year at the end of May in the area of Sobaeksan and Danyang-gun.

Doraksan Mountain (964m)

Doraksan Mountain, the mountain of enlightenment.
The mountain is known to have been named by Uam Song Si-yeol, with the meaning that "the path to enlightenment must have its way and must be followed by joy." The area around Sangseonam Resting Area, which is the starting point of the hiking course, already reaches an altitude of 300 meters above sea level, and on the mountain is "Doraksanseong Fortress," which was built during the Silla Dynasty. It is believed to have been a large castle with a perimeter of about 1 kilometer and could hold thousands of people, and a hermitage called "Gwangdeokam" is located inside the fortress.

Geumsusan (1,016m)

Geumsusan Mountain, originally called Baegamsan Mountain, was named for its scenic beauty. Toegye Yi Hwang, the governor of Danyang mid-Joseon dynasty, marveled at the graceful view of the mountain and renamed it Geumsusan Mountain. It is one of the secondary Eight Scenic Views of Danyang.
It is a beautiful rocky mountain with outstanding autumn scenery and is located in the northernmost part of Woraksan National Park. Every year, at Eoreumgol Ice Valley where ice melts until early April, you can find chestnut-sized ice balls under 30cm-deep stone pits even until autumn, showing you the wonders of nature. On the mountainside, delicious water springs from the rocks constantly, even in the rainy season, quenching the thirst of visitors.

Malmoksan Mountain(710m)

Malmoksan Mountain, also known as Mahangsan, has a spectacular view of Chungjuho Lake. It is named Malmoksan because the shape of the mountain looks like a horse's neck. Malmoksan is a small mountain located in Jeokseong-myeon, Danyang-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, with many rock peaks and a spectacular view of Chungju Lake.
There is a legend that a long time ago, a general-to-be baby was born in Hajin-ri, the start of the hiking track, and a horse worthy of him was born together. However, both the general-to-be and the horse died, and the mountain where the horse died was the back mountain of Hajin-ri, this mountain is called Malmoksan.

It is a rocky mountain that can be seen overhead in the southeast from Gudambong and Oksunbong, which are famous water tourist destinations among the Eight Scenic Views of Danyang.
The mountain is called Jebibong Peak because if you take a boat ride from Janghoenaru and look at the mountain from the direction of Gudambong, the rocky ridge that stretches toward Chungju Lake looks like a swallow flying in the sky with its wings spread wide. In particular, the west valley of Jebibong Peak is the Seolmabong Valley, which is an unexplored area, so the mountains, valleys, and lakes are all stunning. The scenery is at its peak during the fall foliage season, and a mountain temple called Oseongam is located at the crossroads of the mountain, providing a good haven for hikers.
